Martinsville Mondays:

Meet Cindy Rhoday-Murphy, founder and licensed acupuncturist, whose journey into holistic healing began not in a clinic, but in the world of antiques and auctions. “I was absolutely passionate about antiques,” Cindy shares. “It’s still a world I cherish. I even have my auctioneer’s license!” But one day, she received what she describes as an undeniable divine message from God. That spiritual nudge shifted her path entirely—and she answered the call.

In 2007, Cindy opened Southwestern VA Acupuncture, LLC, offering a wide range of services designed to restore balance to the mind, body, and spirit.

Her offerings include:

✨ Acupuncture – precision needle therapy to support natural healing and energy flow

✨ Alpha-Gal Treatment – specialized care for those affected by Alpha-Gal Syndrome

✨ Facial Rejuvenation – gentle, non-invasive methods to enhance natural beauty

✨ Tuina Massage & Cupping – traditional Chinese techniques to relieve pain and promote circulation

✨ Crystal Healing & Intuitive Coaching – spiritual guidance and energy work to help clients connect with their higher selves
Each session with Cindy is more than just a treatment—it’s a moment of care, connection, and transformation. Her proudest moments? “Hands down, it’s the people I’ve helped,” she says. “Watching my patients face their struggles with courage, and being trusted to walk that journey with them—it’s a sacred exchange.”
But her impact doesn’t stop at the there. Cindy has authored three heartfelt books, including one about the grief of losing a beloved dog, another about connecting with angels, and a powerful resource on Alpha-Gal Syndrome. “I’m incredibly proud of them,” she says. “Writing has been another way for me to share healing with the world.” The amount of love and dedication Cindy puts into everything she puts out in the universe is truly inspiring!
Cindy will be hosting a book signing event soon to celebrate those titles—stay tuned for details! She’s also donating free copies of her Alpha-Gal book to local libraries in the coming months to make sure the information reaches those who need it most.
When asked about the legacy she hopes to leave, Cindy answers from the heart:
“I want my legacy to be a tapestry—woven with healing, compassion, and inspiration. I hope to be remembered for helping others overcome their pain and challenges, and I pray that my books and my work leave a ripple effect of restored balance and renewed hope.”
And above all, she hopes that the love and strength of her family—her husband, son, and extended loved ones—continue to carry that legacy forward. “They’ve been my rock through it all,” she says. “I hope to inspire them, and others, to follow their own divine calling—whatever it may be.”
I met Cindy at an event where she was offering medium readings and performing acupuncture. It only took a few minutes of speaking with her to realize just how special of a soul she is. As I photographed the event, I watched closely and saw the genuine love and care she pours into her craft. When Cindy says this work is her calling, you believe it—because it truly takes someone with a rare kind of heart to do what she does.
As I was packing up for the day, Cindy called me over and gently handed me an Angelite stone. It was a smooth, blue stone—cool to the touch as I held it in my hand. Angelite stones help with angelic connections, and at that moment, I immediately felt a sense of peace and a connection to my father, who passed away in 2017. It was such a simple yet meaningful gesture—one that speaks volumes about who Cindy is. Her compassion runs deep, and her presence is a gift to those lucky enough to cross paths with her. This stone sits on my desk to this day as a constant reminder of the friendship I’ve built with her and that my father is always watching over me.
I believe we are all connected by a force greater than ourselves—an energy that flows through the universe and gently guides us toward the people who are meant to impact our lives. Whether you call it divine timing, God, fate, or something else, I believe it’s real. And my experience with Cindy is proof of that. Her warmth lights up a room, and my heart is fuller for having had the opportunity to work alongside her and call her a dear friend.
